An oil should be heated before use, and tested for dielectric strength by observing the voltage required to create a spark between metal balls immersed
in it at a distance of 1 mm apart.
The ground wires are suspended on insulators, the dielectric strength of which should be sufficient for the line operational conditions.
Dielectric strength is the ability of a dielectric material of specified thickness to withstand high
voltages without breaking down.
