Wortformen:(regular plural) drum brakes
( Automotive engineering : Vehicle components , Brakes, steering, wheels, tires, and suspension )
A drum brake is a brake in which the friction is caused by a set of shoes that press against a
rotating drum-shaped surface.
The wheel components in a drum brake system are the wheel cylinder, drum, shoes, adjuster, and mounting hardware.
The friction between the lining and drum, and the effect of this friction on the application
of the shoes, govern the maximum braking torque that a drum brake can produce.
