Word forms: (regular plural) clutch disks
(Automotive engineering: Vehicle components, Engine, transmission, and exhaust)
The clutch torque is generated by the friction of the friction material pads on each
side of the clutch disk. Equal pressure on each side of the clutch disk disengages the clutch, allowing normal operation of the torque converter. The clutch operates by sandwiching the clutch disk between two frictional, mated surfaces under clamping pressure.
