Unlike the case of elastic deformation, these changes of shape in the material are irreversible.
An object in the plastic deformation range will first have undergone elastic deformation, which is reversible, so the object will return part way to its original shape.
In elastic deformation a material changes shape when a stress is applied to it but goes back to its original
state when the stress is removed.
