1. transitive verb If someone is paralyzed by an accident or an illness, they have no feeling in their body, or in part of their body, and are unable to move. ⇒ She is paralyzed from the waist down.
paralyzed adjective ⇒ A guy with paralyzed legs is not supposed to ride horses.
2. transitive verb
If a person, place, or organization is paralyzed by something, they become unable to act or function properly. ⇒ The city has been virtually paralyzed by sudden snowstorms. ⇒ She was paralyzed by fear and love.
paralyzed adjective ⇒ He sat in his chair, paralyzed with dread.
