( Mechanical engineering : Fluid engineering )
The weight of a fluid in a container exerts pressure on the containing vessel's sides
and bottom. This is called static head pressure and is caused by Earth's gravitational pull.
Static head can be raised by lifting the source point, lowering the pump inlet, or raising the
level of fluid in the suction vessel.
Static head is the pressure resulting from a column of liquid acting under gravity.
