If an actor is typecast, they play the same type of character in every play or film that they are in. [be V-ed] ⇒ I didn't want to be typecast and I think I've maintained a large variety in the roles I've played. [be V-ed + as] ⇒ African-Americans were often typecast as servants, entertainers or criminals.
uncountable noun ⇒ She was always keen to shake off the early typecasting as the empty-headed sex symbol.
