( Electrical engineering : Semiconductor and electronic circuitry )
ZIF is especially useful in applications in which repeated insertions subject the IC
or the socket to wear and breakage.
ZIF is a chip socket that allows you to insert and remove a chip without special tools.
ZIF describes a type of microchip socket that clamps the chip pins after insertion, and
so requires no downward force on the microchip or its pins to insert it into the socket.
