ser de praxe to be the normStudent life in Portugal follows the traditions set out in a written set of rules known as the 'código da praxe'. It begins in freshman's week, where first-year students are jeered at by their seniors, and are subjected to a number of humiliating practical jokes, such as having their hair cut against their will and being made to walk around town in fancy dress. The equivalent of praxein Brazil is known as trote.
